The Madrone residence is situated on 5 acres of Texas Hill Country land next to an equestrian facility. The owners wanted to live indoors and outdoors and embrace the natural landscape. The public spaces of the house open to pool and terrace while secondary spaces are positioned to facilitate views to the pasture where horses ready themselves for the next ride. The owners were originally expecting to build a more traditionally styled house but then had so much fun in the design process that the decided to expand their stylistic vocabulary and bring a more contemporary outlook to the design process.
